AIRCRAFT PITCH ANGLE CONTROL USING FEEDBACK PD AND FIRST-ORDER COMPENSATORS

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this research paper is to investigate the use of feedback PD and first-order compensators to control an aircraft pitch with actuator and aircraft dynamics having fourth-order transfer function. The compensators are tuned using the MATLAB optimization toolbox with the selection of the appropriate performance index. The step time response of the control system using both compensators is compared with that using a conventional PID controller. The comparison reveals the best compensator among the three controller/compensators depending on the selection criteria.
