Abstract

NUMERICAL NONLINEAR ANALYSIS OF PALACKÝ BRIDGE

ABSTRACT

This paper presents the results of a nonlinear numerical analysis of the Palacký Bridge. It is a historical arch stone masonry bridge. The bridge was built in 1878 and it is a protected monument. It carries traffic over the Vltava River in Prague. The input for the calculation was a detailed survey of the structure, a load test and historical documents from the time of construction. The aim of the assessment was to determine the influence of the diagnosed defects on the behaviour of the structure and to determine its residual load-bearing capacity. A detailed 3D model of the structure of one arch of the bridge was created for the assessment.
