DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN IOT DEVICE FOR BODY TEMPERATURE MEASUREMENT USING THE MLX90614 THERMAL SCANNER

ABSTRACT
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, contact tracing is a key point for curbing the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and reducing associated mortality. In the Philippines, prior entering establishments, individuals are required to have their body temperature measured and log their names in contact tracing forms. The process is tedious and prone to error. An integrated system is envisioned comprising three major components ? a database and web server, a web application and an IoT device which automates the measurement and logging of contact information of individuals entering an establishment. In this study, the development and implementation of an IoT device for body temperature measurement using the MLX90614 thermal scanner interfaced to a Raspberry Pi 4B is described.
