ABSTRACT

Urban development in smart cities harnesses digital technologies toenhance resource management, promote sustainability, and boostcitizen interaction such technologies' integration poses substantialprivacy and surveillance issues. In this research, urban use of facialrecognition technology (FRT) and its associated ethical and privacyconcerns are explored. This study offers evidence-based policyrecommendations that promote a balance between advancingtechnology and safeguarding privacy, drawing from public perceptions and fosteringdiscourse on ethical dilemmas.
