Dr. Wajdi Wazzan* and Maher Othman
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this research was to systemically evaluate the services provided for students with disabilities at post-secondary institutions and suggest an evaluation model to attain a reasonable level of services. The evaluation model was based on the general guidelines of the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities (CRPD) in the educational field. We have reviewed previous studies that present the eality of services provided to students with disabilities in many universities in the middle east to recognize and identify the obstacles and problems faced by students with disabilities. These inaccessible environments cause activity limitation, participation restriction, deterioration in quality of education, increase dependency on others for assistance, and decrease quality of services. Evaluation form for services provided to students with disabilities in institutions of higher education was then proposed. This evaluation is to ensure that provided services, such as health, social, academic, economic and recreational services, are available in a manner that is appropriate to the needs of students with disabilities and complies with the united nations convention on the rights of persons with disabilities.
